About Judy Nolde, Spiritual Director
Judy has completed spiritual direction training at the Vancouver School of Theology, Pacific Jubilee Program, www.jubileeassociates.ca. She is a member of Spiritual Directors International. While Judy is a lifelong Lutheran (ELCA), and a member of St. Johns Lutheran Church in Madison, her faith has also been shaped by her years as a Benedictine Oblate (affiliated with Holy Wisdom Monastery in Madison) and her interests in Buddhism. She has also completed the Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction Program (MBSR) at UW Health/Alternative Medicine based on the work of Jon Kabat Zinn, and assisted a teacher with an MBSR class. She is currently a student in Loyola University's (Chicago) MA in Pastoral Studies program.

Judy brings a varied background to her spiritual practice, including working with Lutheran Social Services as a lay crisis counselor, a law degree, and living in Europe for five years as a teenager.

Judy volunteers her time with a number of organizations.  She volunteers in churches leading small groups and presentations on spiritual topics, at Holy Wisdom Monastery providing individual spiritual guidance sessions, in the South-Central Synod of the ELCA as a member of the planning team for the Missional Discovery Journey and spiritual practice facilitator, at St. John's Lutheran Church facilitating a pastoral visitation team along with making pastoral visits, and as a spiritual workshop leader for Gilda's Club of Madison.

The call in Benedictine spirituality is to listen with the ear of the heart. In companioning another, Judy tries to listen while helping one become attentive to the movement of the spirit in that person's life.
